Girona (in Catalan) or Gerona (in Spanish) is the name both of the region and the capital city in the region. It is located 100 km north of Barcelona. Many low-cost carriers, including Ryanair, fly here. Costa Brava, a popular tourist destination north of Barcelona, is in the Girona region.

Airbus

The buses are coordinated to flight arrivals. So you’ll find a bus waiting outside the
airport.

A return ticket costs € 21 and the journey takes about 1hr 30 min. The bus company is called Sagalés and they stop at the Estació del Nord in Barcelona. From here you can either take a taxi to your hotel or the Metro L1 (two stops to Plaza Catalunya.)

Do not forget to check the time the bus goes back on your journey home!

Taxi:

A taxi from Girona airport to Barcelona city will cost you around € 165.

Rental Car:

In the airport building you will find the major rental companies Avis, Hertz and Europcar.

These rental companies, however, are fairly expensive. A much more affordable option is
Holiday Auto, their office is right outside the terminal.
