FC Barcelona - More than a club / Mes que un club
Barcelona has always been more than just a soccer club to the Catalans. The club has even been used as a political tool. Barcelona's home stadium Camp Nou was one of the few places where Catalan was allowed to be spoken during the Franco dictatorship. Franco made the club change its name from Futbol Club Barcelona to Club de Fútbol Barcelona since only Spanish names were allowed and he also removed the Catalan flag from the club emblem.
Nobody can buy Barça
FC Barcelona is the only European soccer club that have continuously refused to advertise corporate sponsors on their shirts. Since the club was founded in 1898, FC Barcelona has managed to keep their shirts "clean" from advertising. In recent years, the pressure has increased and new agreements have been discussed with, among others, the Chinese government before the Olympics in Beijing 2008.
When everyone thought that Barça would give in and sign a contract with the company betandwin.com (€100 million) they did the opposite and signed a contract with the international child organization UNICEF. Instead of receiving €20 million each year for five years, they now donate €1,5 million each year to wear the UNICEF logo on their shirts.
Great players to have played for Barça:

Maradona (ARG)
Romário (BRA)
Johan Cruyff (NED)
Hristo Stoitchkov (BUL)
Gary Lineker (ENG)
Rivaldo (BRA)
Ronald Koeman (NED)
Patrick Kluivert (NED)
Henrik Larsson (SWE)
Ronaldinho (BRA)
...and the following two players have committed the worst crime that Barça players can do: leave FC Barcelona for Real Madrid, the arch enemy.
Luís Figo (POR)
Michael Laudrup (DEN)
