El Born, also known as La Ribera
Much of the beautiful gothic architecture in Barcelona can be found in the
small neighbourhood of El Born, situated east of Ciutat Villa, on the
other side of the busy street Via Laietana.
El Born is known for its bohemian style with many cafes, restaurants and
small design boutiques. In recent years, El Born has become one of the
most fashionable neighbourhoods in Barcelona.
The street Carrer de l'Argenteria is the artery of the neighbourhood that
provides life to the smaller streets. It ends at the square known as Santa Maria
del Mar where the mighty Cathedral with the same name rises. On the other side
of the Cathedral we find Passeig del Born, a suitable place to stop for a Mojito
given that the street is packed with cocktail-bars.
For culture and arts in El Born, visit Picasso Museo on Montcada Street. Every
year, this museum is visited by over 1,1 million people.
El Born is only a 10-minute walk away from both Las Ramblas and the beach.
