Art Galleries
Picasso, Dalí and Miró...do we need to say more? In Barcelona you can
discover all kinds of great art!
Museu Picasso
The Picasso Museum is Barcelona's most visited art gallery with over one
million visitors each year. The museum shows mostly the artist's early
works but also some of his later pieces. Since everything is in
chronological order, you can easily follow this artist's extraordinary
development.

Fundació Joan Miró
Fundació Joan Miro
is a wonderful art gallery. The museum is situated on the Montjüic
mountain and contains numerous works by this amazing painter and sculptor.
The beautiful building is itself a notable example of modern design. To
get there you can either take the Metro to Espanya and then walk for 15
minutes, or you can take the Bus Turistic which stops right outside the
museum. Fundació Miró is a personal favorite of mine!
Also, make sure you visit the Parc Miró, located right next to Plaça
d'Espanya.

Barcelona.

Salvador Dalí Museum in Figueres
The
Salvador Dalí Museum is not located in Barcelona but we want to include it
in our guide anyway, given that it is one of the most famous and most
visited museums in northern Spain.
The museum is located about 100 km north of Barcelona in the small town of
Figueres where Dalí was born. The facade of the museum is both beautiful
and striking, even being decorated with eggs! Although it is 100 km away
from the city it's fast and easy to get to. Travelling by regional train
takes 1 hour and 45 minutes and from the station it's only a 15-minute
walk to the museum.
Address: Dalí
Museum, Figueres
Opening hours: July - September 9 am - 7.15
pm (Tue - Sun)
January-June 10.30 am - 5.15 pm (Tue - Sun)
October-December 10.30 am - 5:15 pm (Tue - Sun)
Admission: €11
Web:
http://www.salvador-dali.org/
Directions:
The easiest way to Figueres is to take the RENFE regional train from
Barcelona to Figueres.
Go to the RENFE website (external link)
and choose Barcelona for ORIGIN and Figueres for DESTINATION.
