All taxis in Barcelona are yellow and black

Taxis are pretty cheap in Barcelona and it's a good alternative to public transport. A 10-minute journey will cost approximately 7-9 €. A licensed taxi has to drive with the taximeter turned on but be aware that they are allowed to add €1 per bag if you are travelling with luggage.

You can leave tips to the taxi driver if you want, 5-10% is standard. However, there are many dishonest drivers who may try to add "their own" tips by adding charges at the end of the journey.

All Barcelona taxis are yellow and black. When they are free for hire they turn on a green light on the car’s roof.

It's not very convenient to move around by taxi in the most central areas such as the old gothic quarter. There are many pedestrian streets and the few roads that exist are often heavily congested. In these neighbourhoods I would recommend walking or taking the metro/bus.

For example, simply calling a cab to Plaza Catalunya isn’t specific enough, you need a fixed address. If you are staying at a hotel, ask the reception to order a taxi for you.

  You should always be aware of pickpockets when you travel by metro. Learn how to best avoid pickpockets.

If your T-10 ticket gets damaged so that it no longer works, go to the ticket counter and ask for a new one. There you will get a new ticket with the same number of journeys that you had left.
