Parties for independence won the elections, but a majority of Catalans want to continue to belong to Spain

Despite the fact that the ruling party in the Catalan parliament received only 39.70% of the votes in yesterday s election, they can, together with the revolutionary left party CUP who also want an independent state, obtain majority. Together they have 72 of the 135 seats in Parliament. If you count the number of votes, 47.78% voted in favour of the independence parties, and 52.22% against.

Catalonia National Day September 11th

The cries for independence is being heard in Catalonia and has gained more momentum in recent years due to the economic crisis and the alienating politics from the central government party Partido Popular. A giant demonstration will take place on the street La Meridiana. The demonstration will culminate at 17:14 which is the year Catalonia lost its independent.
